ABOUT US

I have been creating Scrubbles' Soap Queen Magic since January of 2001.  In the beginning, I needed a logo and a company name.  I asked Melissa, my daughter the artist, to draw some Soap Queens to inspire us.  Her drawings began a brainstorming (or should I say "giggle") session regarding the direction we wanted for the presentation of our soap company.  A blend of scrubbing bubbles 'Scrubbles' with the Soap Queen artwork created by Melissa ... Scrubbles the Soap Queen was born.  The 'magic' was added at the prompting of several customers who refer to our soaps as 'magic' bars.

My discovery of soapmaking began as a result of my love of hand crafted soaps and a visit with a successful soap maker.  Due to a corporate reorganization, I found myself unemployed.  Unwilling to submit to corporate bureaucracy again, my goal was to start my own business; to be in control of my own destiny.  After learning the essential arts of soap making my journey began.  I have continued my studies and consider the work of Julia Lawless in the creation of all my recipes.  I strive to combine the use of essential oil aromatherapy with the selection of the highest quality all natural vegetable ingredients.  Then, I just stir in the love; which is magic.

I create my recipes using only high quality all natural ingredients.  My vegetable oils are purchased from Columbus Foods, 730 North Albany, Chicago, IL 60612.  Columbus Foods is the leading supplier among soapmakers.  The herbs used in our magic bars are purchased from the Frontier section of The Herb Shop in Lawrenceville, GA.  I purchase my essential oils from Jardin de la Terre in Oakland, CA or The HealthNut in Stone Mountain, GA.  Jardin imports essential oils from around the world.  The ECOCERT standards their products adhere to ensures the highest quality 100% pure essential oils.  The HealthNut is a very reputable herb shop that has been located in the Village of Stone Mountain for over 10 years.  This is where I purchase the NOW ingredients for our product line.

Our first sale was in February, 2001 on Mallory Square in Key West, Florida.  Our first customer was The Herb Shop in Lawrenceville, GA.  Kelli Tippett the owner, of The Herb Shop referred us to her sister shop in Roswell, GA.  Jenny Sadlier began purchasing Scrubbles Soap in March, 2001.  In January, 2002 my friend, Angela Laughter decided to open Social Graces, a gift shop in Conyers, GA.  I have worked with Angela and her partner Nancy to develop their gift line of soaps.  I also supply the bed & breakfast, Ambrosia House of Key West, Florida Kate Meanu began purchasing small guest soaps in June, 2002.

To further spread Soap Queen Magic, we attend several craft shows and festivals.  These festivities include the Inman Park Festival in Atlanta, GA, the Ginger Bread Show at Oak Grove Elementary School, Lilburn Daze in Lilburn GA, Tucker Day in Tucker, GA, The Cotton-Pickin Fair in Gay, GA, the Granite Festival of Stone Mountain Village, GA, the Norcross Fall Festival in Norcross, GA, Boy Scout Troop 560's Fall Festival in Lilburn, GA and the St. John Neuman Fall Festival in Lilburn, GA.

Scrubbles' Soap is located in our home, approximately 20 miles north of Atlanta, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  I live with my 17 year old daughter, Melissa; the avid soccer player.  This makes me a full-time, very proud Soccer Mom.  I am a full-time Substitute Teacher for Gwinnett County Public Schools.  I also do market research for PVR Research located in Johns Creek, GA.  Since 1991, I have been the Leader of NWGGSC Girl Scout Troop 263.  My personal goal is to become a full-time soapmaker.

Thank you for your consideration of Scrubbles' Soap Queen Magic. ~
